Commentary for II Samuel 12:17

וַיָּקֻ֜מוּ זִקְנֵ֤י בֵיתוֹ֙ עָלָ֔יו לַהֲקִימ֖וֹ מִן־הָאָ֑רֶץ וְלֹ֣א אָבָ֔ה וְלֹֽא־בָרָ֥א אִתָּ֖ם לָֽחֶם׃

And the elders of his house arose, and stood beside him, to raise him up from the earth; but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.

And he did not eat. [A word] denoting eating like [we find], "I will eat from her hand."⁷Later, 13:6.
